Bank Street Park Engagement Summary

Thank you to everyone who had their say on the new Bank Street Park during the consultation from 22 August to 25 September 2022. This consultation builds on the feedback received from the community and stakeholders over recent years as part of the Blackwattle Bay State Significant Precinct Study.

The redevelopment of Blackwattle Bay offers an exciting opportunity to build an inclusive and iconic waterfront destination that celebrates innovation, history, culture, diversity and community.

As part of this redevelopment, there will be a new harbour foreshore walkway that traverses a new 1.1-hectare park at Bank Street, Pyrmont. The new park will surround the southern pylon of the Anzac Bridge. The site provides a rare chance to create a new waterfront park that will celebrate its First Nations culture, iconic harbourside location and maritime history.

The feedback formed part of a design brief, and the design consultant will be developing concepts for consultation in 2023. Eight main themes emerged from the feedback:

  • A welcoming and accessible park that caters to different users and activities

  • Amenities

  • Consideration of the needs of boating users and water sports

  • Connection to Country and First Nations representation

  • Mixed views on the buildings at 1-3 Bank Street

  • A green place of respite

  • Connection to the water and enhanced views

  • A distinct identity for the park
