Bank Street Park planning modification approved

In March 2025, Infrastructure NSW lodged a planning application to modify elements of the approved concept design for Bank Street park.

This modification was in response to refinements made as the design developed into ‘detailed design’ for construction and primarily aimed to improve access, connectivity and circulation throughout the park.

The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure recently approved the modification application.

The design modifications included:

  • Internal reconfiguration to the repurposed buildings at 1-3 Bank Street.

  • Internal reconfiguration to the new community building floor plan and introduction of open central corridor

  • Minor landscape changes, including to the park shelter locations and pathways

  • Retaining a section of existing boardwalk -adjacent to ANZAC Bridge

  • Reconfiguring the Dragon Boat Store building, without reducing the number of dragon boats being stored

  • Naturalising the foreshore sandstone steps adjacent to the boat ramp

  • Maintaining existing hardstand levels surrounding the ANZAC Bridge pylons

  • Revised boat ramp arrangement.

Next steps:

We are excited to be one step closer to delivering this exceptionally designed waterfront park at Bank Street, the first public benefit of many to be delivered as part of the Blackwattle Bay precinct redevelopment.

The planning application can be viewed on the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure’s  Major Projects portal.
