BESIX Watpac awarded contract to deliver the highly anticpated park at Bank Street

Following a competitive procurement process, BESIX Watpac have been awarded the contract to deliver the highly anticipated park at Bank Street.

Construction of the park is expected to commence in early 2026 and will be among the first of many public benefits that will be delivered as part of the wider renewal of Blackwattle Bay.

The park’s stunning design by Oculus and Turner and Collins, ensures there is a space for everyone in the community to enjoy,

In a first for the NSW Government, Infrastructure NSW is working closely with head contractor BESIX Watpac to achieve a minimum target of 40% and a stretch target of 50% women working on the project.

The Women in Construction pilot project aims to address the underrepresentation of women in the NSW construction industry - an imbalance that limits diversity, reduces the available talent pool, and makes it harder to meet the state’s infrastructure needs.

Closing the pop-up park

We have been pleased with the success of the pop-up park while planning for the new park at Bank Street progressed. With construction of the park commencing in early 2026, the pop-up park will be closing soon so early investigation works can commence.

We will provide further updates on timing of the closure via onsite signage and newsletter soon.
