Site investigations – Sydney Fish Market
As part of the Blackwattle Bay urban renewal, a number of site investigations will occur in the Blackwattle Bay area to assess the existing environment.
What are the site investigations?
Site investigations are required to understand the geotechnical condition of the soil and any existing soil contamination. This will help plan for the wider urban renewal.
Investigations will generally involve:
- Using survey equipment to do the detailed survey on grade and below ground utilities.
- A truck-mounted drill rig to collect core samples and reinstating the investigation site on the same day.
- Progressing along the area of work in small areas to minimise disruption.
Key dates
- From: Late May to mid-August (weather permitting)
- 7am - 6pm
Some night works will also be required to minimise impacts on the operations.
Location
Existing Sydney Fish Market site,
Bank Street
Pyrmont
What to be aware of?
- Investigation will be both internal and external, including visual inspection and using surveying drilling equipment.
- Around five parking spaces will be unavailable at a time throughout the works and move along the investigation area externally.
- Traffic conditions onsite and around the site may be changed during the works and there will be traffic controllers. Please follow their instructions.
- Localised noise can be expected during the work between 7am and 6pm. Some night works are required to enable investigations and to minimise impacts on Sydney Fish Market operations. Further notification will be provided before the night works commence.
- Mitigation measures will be in place to minimise impacts on the surrounding community and operations of the Sydney Fish Market.
