Bank Street Park has reached a major milestone with the State Significant Development Application determined by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure under delegation for the NSW Minister for Planning and Public Spaces.

The NSW Government is now welcoming expressions of interest (EOI) from experienced development partners to deliver a key site within the Blackwattle Bay State Significant Precinct.

To ensure the Blackwattle Bay Precinct serves the community, a change to the planning controls is being sought to enable a more flexible land-use mix that responds to the need for more homes in a well-connected, high-amenity location, without changing building envelopes.

The NSW Government is prioritising delivery of Bank Street Park, a 1.1-hectare waterside park that surrounds the southern pylons of the ANZAC Bridge.

An important part of planning for the new Bank Street Park is understanding the history and heritage of the place. 

The NSW Government unveiled a preferred design concept for Bank Street Park in December following community and stakeholder consultation to design a vision for the park, and to verify the direction of the park’s design.

Mulch is from a supplier not associated with contaminated mulch found at parkland sites in Sydney.

The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has placed the State Significant Development (SSD) application for Bank Street Park on public exhibition until this Thursday, 1 February 2024.
